I was lying asleep when sirens blared;
quickly, I leapt out of bed.
No longer tired, but awake and aware
I prayed that I would not be injured.
Reciting Tehillim, I pulled on my mask.
My heart pounded loud in my ears.
Protect me and my friends is that too much to ask?
I prayed that we all would survive
Shir lamalot! I cried out loud in despair.
From where will my help arrive?
Who will stop problems, allow for repair?
Who will save me and my homeland?
To whom can I turn? Who is friend? Who is foe?
How can I know who to trust?
Where should I run? Where should I go?
Father please help me! What should I do?
Britain? America? China? Japan?
Where should I look for aid?
From Gaza and Egypt, Iraq and Iran?
Who can I believe will help me?
My head in my hands I cried feeling lost
I had no idea what to do.
My safety? A joke! My life being tossed.
I looked to Hashem for my answers.
Ribone shel olam! I cried out in pain.
Shma kolenu please listen!
Without you we know there is nothing to gain
We are nothing without the help that you give us.
Rachel mivakah! Remember Hashem
Our mother cried out for our sake.
You listened before please listen again!
Remember that we are your children
Vihe sheamda you promised lavosenu vilanu
That you would always protect us.
Shma Yisrael! Stop all the blood!
Hashem Elokenu Hashem Haechad.
